A post office is closing for refurbishment next month.

The outlet in High Street, Walthamstow, will be transformed over August into an open plan branch with longer opening hours.

It will close on Thursday, August 1, before opening again at 1pm on Monday, August 19, with 12.5 extra opening hours, meaning customers can visit between 7am and 5.30pm Monday to Saturday.

Post Office regional network manager, Will Russell, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in this area of Walthamstow and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

“The modernisation is part of a major investment programme to convert the Post Office network to new-style branches. This investment, the largest in the history of the Post Office, makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”

Customers hoping to use the post office while the High Street branch is closed can visit Walthamstow Central Post Office or Lea Bridge Road Post Office in Lea Bridge Road, Leyton.
