A riding trust which works with people who have special needs received a £1,500 donation from Sainsbury’s customers.

The supermarket in Tanners Lane, Barkingside, presented the cheque to the Chigwell Riding Trust after customers donated cash to the trust in Grange Farm, which helps around 160 people with special needs each week who work with the animals.

Store manager Chris Wager said: “We chose Chigwell Riding Trust to donate funds to because they are local to our store, and for the fantastic work they do with people of all ages with special needs – achieving some fantastic results.”

Deborah Hall, who has been at the trust for 30 years, added: “It was great news when the store  called me to say the store were donating £1,000 to the trust.  I was doubly surprised when, in fact, the cheque was actually for £1,500!.

"Thank you to the customers and colleagues of Sainsburys Barkingside.”
