A building opened in 1884 is celebrating its history with a two-day event.

Lopping Hall, Loughton, was given to the community as compensation to villagers who lost their traditional rights to Lop Wood when the City of London Corporation brought the management rights.

The exhibition, ‘Past, Present and Future’ will include building tours, history talks and the chance to join in with many classes which use the hall.

Lopping Hall, Loughton High Road, will be open from 11am until 4pm on September 14 and 15 for the free event.

The Hall is home to several arts based groups including the National Operatic and Dramatic Association, the Loughton Amateur Dramatic Society and the Loughton Operatic Society.
