Jim Younger and Gail Williams play Walthamstow Folk Club on Sunday (October 6).

Mr Y is known for his “breathtaking” musicianship on the mandolin, guitar, concertina and a host of other instruments, while Gail has earned praise for her interpretations of traditional American songs.


They replaced the previously billed Jim Page.


Admission is £7, or £5 for concessions.

It's at Ye Olde Rose and Crown in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, and doors open at 7.30pm.

Acoustic duo Hungrytown headline Loughton Folk Club on Thursday (October 3).


Support comes from acapella group Triangle.


Entry to the show, at the Loughton Club in Station Road, is £3. Doors open at 8pm.

The Redbridge Music Lounge and Green Fair Music Club hosts its last Valentines Mansion concert of 2013 on Sunday (October 6).


It takes place in the Walled Garden area of the site, which is in Emerson Road, Ilford.


Running from 11am until 3pm, acts include vocal and keyboard duo Darklights, R&B group The Blue Hearts and energetic rock band Cockney Treble.


Entry is free.


Country-psych act The Dials launch their new album 'The End Of The Pier' at The Crown in Leytonstone High Road on Saturday night (October 5).


Their new single 'Rosie Marie' has been getting a lot of play on BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music.


Support comes from 'Mario from Mario's'.


Doors open at 8pm. It's a What's Cookin' show, so is free, but donations for the acts are welcome.


Then the following Tuesday (October 8) the same venue has an evening of music from the East Side Jazz Club.


Performers include Quentin Collins on the trumpet, Leo Richardson on tenor sax and Bruno Montrone on piano.


Doors are at 8.30pm and it costs £6.


Then on Wednesday (October 9) the What's Cookin' hosts another show at The Crown headlined by twangy Americana band The Dog Roses.


Also playing are bluegrass tunesters Ghost Town Showdown and Hogie.
