The victims of a racist attack have lodged an official complaint with the Metropolitan Police over the way their case was handled.
Berry Sohal, 42, of Chigwell, was with two friends and two family members, one of whom was on their first night out in England, when they were attacked in George Lane, South Woodford, on Saturday.
A group of 10 to 15 people, aged about 17 to 20, attacked the group of mainly British Indians outside the Slug and Lettuce pub at 2am.
Three of her companions were taken to hospital for treatment, but she does not believe police are taking the attack seriously enough.
She said: “I am not happy about the way the police have dealt with our case.
“We were not assigned an officer or given a victim card at the scene and no officers attended the hospital either.
“We have not been able to make a statement since Saturday and the police have not called us once, we have always called them."
Her partner, Anil Chadha, 38, of Leyton, was knocked unconscious in the attack and has had to return to hospital after suffering from numbness. He is due to undergo an MRI scan today.
The Guardian has contacted the Metropolitan Police and is awaiting a response.
