Loughton Voluntary Care had pensioners explore the internet

The Loughton Voluntary Care Silver Surfer Club organised the session to help older people navigate the intricacies of the internet.

Barclays Bank in High Road, Loughton hosted the event on February 7 and provided the iPads to the pensioners.

Four Barclays staff members donated their Saturday afternoon to help 20 people, most in their 80s and 90s, from the Loughton area.

This fun, social event included opportunities to play with the iPads and explore how they could be useful.

Loughton-based chartered accountants Haslers gave £150 towards the project and Molens Café provided two plates of sandwiches.

Loughton Voluntary Care hopes the Silver Surfers will become a regular event with pop-ups around the town.

Any older person living alone in IG10 is urged to contact the club if they would like to participate.
