Hundreds of people turned out to remember the sacrifice of our service men and women over the weekend.

The events held in Wanstead and Woodford were in remembrance of those who gave their lives in two world wars and other conflicts across the world.

At 9am on Saturday (November 7), a Royal British Legion service was held at Woodford War Memorial, in High Road, South Woodford with St Aubyn's Cadet Corps leading the march.

Later, Conservative MP Iain Duncan Smith and Labour’s Wes Streeting united to lay wreaths at a St Mary’s Church remembrance ceremony.

The next day a Salvation Army band performed at a moving service held at Wanstead War Memorial, in High Street, Wanstead.

A march joined by police and air cadets, Royal British Legion members and local councillors took visitors to the high street memorial to pay tribute to the war dead.

On Wednesday (November 11) at 11am there will be a remembrance service organised by Fairlop Heritage Group at Fairlop Waters Country Park.

At the same time, a Royal British Legion organised service will take place at Snaresbrook Garden of Remembrance.
