A supermarket giant has made a large donation to a temple handing out food to those in need this Diwali.

Tesco's in Leytonstone provided over £1,000 worth of food ranging from rice, oil, nuts, sweets, and flour to the Shri Vallabh Nidhi temple in Whipps Cross Road this week.

The temple has been part of Waltham Forest since 1980, and work with local Hindu, Jain and Sikh charities in the area to provide hot meals and food parcels to the community’s most vulnerable people.

Elaine Price, Tesco Borough Champion in London, said: “As the Diwali festival is associated with generosity and giving, we’re delighted to have donated food to the local Temple in Waltham Forest and hope it will go towards supporting those in need this Diwali.”
