Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris believes a London derby against Chelsea should provide the perfect opportunity for the club to get over their Champions League elimination.

A 2-1 defeat against AS Monaco on Tuesday left Spurs facing a fight to secure third spot in their group, which would see them qualify for the Europa League.

Meetings between Chelsea and Tottenham are characteristically keenly contested and Lloris feels it is the ideal atmosphere to move on from the midweek upset.

“It’s a big disappointment but we need to keep our chins up because it’s a big game on Saturday,” Lloris said.

“I said the same after we lost against Leverkusen at Wembley, this is the best type of game to bounce back.

“The only thing is to digest the frustration of this and look forward.”

The task facing Spurs at Stamford Bridge is a daunting one. Mauricio Pochettino’s men come up against a Chelsea side who have stormed to the summit of the Premier League after six straight wins.

Antonio Conte’s side have conceded no goals in that time and the victories come at an aggregate score of 17-0.

Saturday’s match is likely to offer the sternest test yet of Tottenham’s unbeaten Premier League record which has taken them to fifth in the table, four points behind Chelsea.

A win could take Spurs up to second, dependent on results elsewhere, although they would need a six goal swing with both Liverpool and Manchester City to do so.

They are likely to have to shackle Diego Costa if they are to come away with a win with the prolific Spaniard scoring 10 goals and assisting a further three this season.

Spurs will continue to get by without influential centre-back Toby Alderweireld as he continues his recovery from a knee injury, while Ben Davies (ankle) and Erik Lamela (hip) are also unavailable.

Chelsea, meanwhile, head into the match with a full complement and are likely to persist with the same XI which beat Middlesbrough 1-0 last time out.
