A recently re-opened Overground could be closed over the Christmas period to allow for further electrification work.
Network Rail announced it plans to close the Barking to Gospel Oak line for seven weeks from Monday, November 27 until Sunday, January 14.
It will be subject to agreement from TfL and train and freight operators.
It also intends to close the line for five weeks between Sunday, September 17 and Sunday, October 22.
This is on top of the already confirmed closures hitting the line every weekend from now until Sunday, September 10.
Rail replacement buses will be provided and regular users will be automatically refunded the extra cost of travelling by Tube or train.
The line was previously closed for eight months for electrification work, reopening in February.
However, work was not completed on time due to design problems and the late delivery of some materials.
Passengers are advised to plan alternative journeys in advance at tfl.co.uk
