An osteoporosis support group is reminding residents that they are not alone when it comes to bone health.

Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones lose their strength and are more likely to break or fracture

The National Osteoporosis Society’s Chingford support group has been offering help to people in the area for nine years.

Run by volunteers, the group meets on a regular basis to provide sessions for newly diagnosed, medical updates by experts in the field of osteoporosis and exercise.

The meetings also offer the chance to catch up with friends and sharing day to day experiences of living with the condition.

Chingford Support Group Chairman, Roberta Abbott said: “As a group we are passionate about raising awareness of osteoporosis in the local community and are very fortunate to have some wonderful health professionals and medical advisors who work with us.

“The activities, events and osteoporosis updates we run provide information on many aspects of bone health, helping those affected by osteoporosis to manage their condition and support them in making informed choices.

We are always keen to ensure that our events are of interest to present members and to those who may be new to us.”

Meetings are held at the St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, in High Road, Woodford Green.
