A MOTHER says “she wells up every time” she thinks about her daughter’s incredibly charitable gesture.

Gracie Owers, a pupil at Aldersbrook Primary School, is growing her hair so she can donate it to The Little Princess Trust to make a wig for a child undergoing chemotherapy.

The seven-year-old raised £1,150 within four days of creating her Just Giving page.

Mum Siobhan, a solicitor, hailed her daughter’s sense of justice.

She said: "Every time I think about it, I well up. She has such a deep sense of morality and is naturally like that. I’m full of pride.

“It’s such a lovely thing and it really seems to be capturing people’s imagination. People are swept up with the idea that someone so young would have such a deep rooted social conscience.

“She’s tenacious. Once she gets an idea she sees it through. Her aims are to right wrongs, and reduce injustice.”

Gracie has also been a vegetarian for two years because she loves animals so much.

No date has yet been set for the cut, but Biyoni, a hairdressers in High Street, Wanstead, will cut Gracie’s hair. Fundraising will continue throughout December.
