CHILDREN are taking a month long course in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual (LGBT) rights.
For the whole of February students at Epping St John will take part in a series of activities under the tagline Pride in Our Family for LGBT History Month.
Assemblies will focus on the prejudice the LGBT community faces and signpost means of support.
A colourful cake sale will raise money for an LGBT charity chosen by students in a vote.
Daniella Perry, subject leader for sociology and spiritual, moral, social and cultural studies (SMSC), said: “In keeping with LGBT History Month, we will focus on the theme Geography. Mapping our world in our SMSC lessons, with the aim of giving students a wealth of knowledge and to promote equality and diversity for all.
“Epping St John’s also has LGBT history posters around the school and our wonderful co-head will deliver an assembly to all year groups, with the focus being LGBT history.
“This is a truly wonderful celebration where every student, member of staff and parents/carers have the opportunity to take part and be involved.”
