Harpenden Blues, Rhythm and Rock Festival will be returning to Harpenden Public Halls on May 13, showcasing live music in the UK with The Pretty Things headlining and five other bands.

English rockers The Pretty Things formed in the early 60s and have continued success across the decades. They began purely with rhythm and blues at the start of their career.

They then embraced other genres such as psychedelic rock in the late 1960s (with 1968 S,F. Sorrow being one of the first rock operas), hard rock in the early 1970s and new wave in the early 1980s.

They will be joined by Aynsley Lister, Simon McBride, Connor Selby Band, The Luke Doherty Band and Deep Blue Sea.

St Albans & Harpenden Review:

Aynsley Lister is a guitarist whose brand of blues-based rock delivers contemporary song writing with extra heart and soul.

After back-pedalling on his solo career to start a family, Simon McBride is now back on the road with his own jet-fuelled outfit, and since Luke Doherty found an old music VHS in a cupboard when he was seven-years-old, featuring various blues players, Luke has never happier than when he is playing it himself.

St Albans & Harpenden Review:

Connor Selby cites Eric Clapton as his first and current major influence, placing particular emphasis on his output with legends John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers and Cream.

Deep Blue Sea plays 21st century indie blues and in the finest traditions, their music is seldom predictable or generic.

With this calibre of artist stepping on stage, festival goers will see top class live performances and hear a range of incredible sounds with sets that incorporate a creative mix of blues, rock and r-and-b, with a sprinkling of other genres in the mix.
