A supplier issue has caused a shaky start for Redbridge Council’s new green waste collection scheme.

A supplier failed to deliver all of the collection bags in time for the launch of the new service on March 5.

The council planned to provide all households with a complimentary compostable bag as part of the service, but delivery delays have left some homes having to source their own.

The planned collection service has remained unaffected and collection dates remain unchanged.

Gardeners have been advised that they can continue to use their old woven bags or biodegradable bags.

Plastic bags can also be used until supplier issues are resolved, as long as they are left untied and open with the garden waste clearly visible.

Bags will be distributed by the council as they arrive.
