A police officer who filed a bogus insurance claim after being involved in a crash has pleaded guilty to fraud and perverting the course of justice.
PC Jasvir Raju of Waltham Forest Police falsely claimed his vehicle was stolen after he crashed on the A12 in Havering in February 2017.
The 25-year-old, who was off duty at the time of the crash, is on restricted duties and a suspension request will be submitted for consideration.
He will be subject to a misconduct review by the Directorate of Professional Standards.
No one was injured in the crash.
PC Raju appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Tuesday (March 6) for a pre-trial hearing and changed his original plea. He will be sentenced at the same court on March 28.
