PUPILS were dazzled by the world of science at a fair organised by sixth formers.

Year 13s from Bancroft’s School in Woodford Green took year five and six pupils from across Redbridge on a tour through the stalls showing subjects linked to the three main sciences.

Topics covered included the heart, invisible ink, antibiotics and diseases, space travel, planet exploration and rocket engines.

Visitors also enjoyed a chemistry show featuring chemical reactions, made rockets and launched them on the school field and learned how humans and animals use their senses.

Dr Elizabeth Swinbank, honorary fellow in Science Education at the University of York, visited the fair and judged the stalls.

She says: “All the teams are to be commended for the energy and enthusiasm that they put into the event.

“Throughout a busy and demanding day, they were clearly keen to engage with the visitors who clustered excitedly around all the stands, eager to see what was going on and to take part.

“There was a real sense of excitement amongst visitors and sixth formers alike.”
