AN EXHIBITION focusing on classic diesels kicks off a railway gallery's season.

The Penny Salon Gallery at Ongar Station will host 'Classic Diesels in London and Essex' on April 28 and 29.

Having increased the display space by over 30 per cent since last year, the exhibition will include close to 100 framed images, spanning five decades from the 1960s onwards.

The exhibition coincides with the Railway's Spring Diesel Gala weekend on 28 and 29 April.

The scene then switches to 'The Heyday of London Transport' on May 12 and 13, also London Transport Weekend.

This is followed by a showing of mainly limited edition prints, with an Eastern Counties theme, from local transport artist and Fellow of the Guild of Railway Artists, Malcolm Root, on June 9 and 10.

With July comes a one-off exhibition that utilising material from Reg Batten's forays into Essex from well over 50 years ago in 'A Plethora of Public Houses and Pub Signs'.

This exhibition will correspond with the Railway's three day Real Ale Weekend on July 20 and 22.
