A woman is fighting for her life after being hit by a car in the early hours of Monday morning.
The pedestrian, whose age remains unknown, was knocked down at 3am in Station Road, Chingford.
A 23-year-old man who was the driver of the car, a Ford Focus, stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
He was taken to an east London station for questioning.
Police are trying to establish the identity of the woman who remains in a critical condition.
