Drag queens, tribute acts and one of the original TV talent show break-out groups will perform at this year's Essex Pride.

From 12pm until late on June 16, Chelmsford's Central Park will be transformed into a fairground of inclusion and entertainment.

Top of the bill are Popstars runners-up Liberty X - who scored ten consecutive top 20 singles in the mid-2000s - and 'So Macho' soulstress Sinitta.

They will be joined by tribute acts for The Spice Girls, Britney Spears, Dolly Parton and Sia.

The Chair of Essex Pride Garry Ormes said: "Thousands of people came to last year's event.

"Not only is it a time for fun, and a chance to enjoy the moment with friends, it is also an opportunity for the whole community to join together, and celebrate diversity across Essex.

"Pride is for everyone."

Away from the main stage, local businesses and charities will set up in the Showcase Community Arena, a circus workshop will provide crash courses in juggle based activities and a dog show adorable pooches.

Food and alcohol will also be served throughout the day.

This year's pride coincides with the fortieth Anniversary of the iconic rainbow flag, which is a symbol of pride and social movement towards complete equality.

Advance tickets are discounted at £12.50 for adults and £4 for children aged 13-17 and available online now for a limited time.

Children under 12 have free entry and do not require a ticket but they must be accompanied by a responsible adult, who is over 18, at all times.
