Thousands of people pass through this station every day.
But between the hustle and bustle of commuters, have you ever stopped to think about its history?
It was opened by the Eastern Counties Railway on August 22, 1856 and was initially named 'Low Leyton.'
The station was not renamed simply 'Leyton' untl 27 November, 1867.
Then on May 5, 1947, it was first served by the Central Line.
The northern ticket office and entrance opened in 1901 but was removed when the M11 was expanded in the 1990s.
