A man arrested on suspicion of murdering a 57-year-old Polish national has been bailed.

Janek Brakonecki, who lived in London, was found with critical injuries in a carpark off Leytonstone High Road shortly before 8am on Saturday, July 7.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination held on Sunday was inconclusive and officers await the outcome of further tests.

On Saturday, a man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of murder. He has been bailed to a date in August pending further enquiries.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating and urging witnesses to come forward.

DCI Gary Holmes said: “We are making urgent enquiries to establish the circumstance that led to Mr Brakonecki’s death.

“At this time, we must keep an open mind as to the cause of death, and I am appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward and speak with police.”
