Two men have been arrested after officers seized designer goods worth £50,000 and class A drugs following a stop and search in Waltham Forest.

Police stopped a Mercedes hire car in Trumpington Road, Forest Gate, on Tuesday, July 10, and searched all three occupants.

A 24-year-old man was arrested for possessing criminal property after £4,000 in cash was found stuffed down his underwear.

A 21-year-old man was arrested for possession of class A drugs.

Officers carried out a search of the home of the 24-year-old man and recovered clothes and shoes from Louis Vuiton, Guicci, Prada and Christian Dior worth £50,000 in total.

Both men were taken to an east London police station where they remain for questioning.

Inspector Peter Moxham of the Met’s Violent Crime Task Force, said: "Task Force Proactive Teams are working across London to keep our communities safe.

"We will stop and search within the scope of the law using all means necessary. Seizing drugs, cash and criminal property from those suspected of being connected to violence."
