A station will close this weekend and not re-open for another week.
Goodmayes station will shut on Sunday August 5 and is expected to remain shut until Sunday August 12.
Network Rail has decided to close the station while it carries out essential strengthening work to the footbridge between the ticket hall and platforms.
This work is an essential part of Network Rail’s Railway Upgrade Plan to maintain and improve access at the station for the thousands of passengers who use it every day.
Network Rail said work of this nature can only be carried out when the station is closed to the public.
Train services will not be operating to or from the station as access to the platforms will be restricted.
The ticket office and ticket vending machines will still be available during the closure and the station will still have a staff presence to provide any customers with assistance.
Network Rail has warned that, due to the nature of the work, some noise will be unavoidable, but the company says it will do its best to minimise any disturbance that these essential works may cause.
