A children’s hospice will hold a ‘pumpkin fest’ this Autumn and is encouraging people of all ages to join in on the fun.

Following on from the success of its Chasing Elves run last year, Haven House in Woodford Green has incorporated a Chasing Pumpkins 10km run through Epping Forest into its Halloween celebrations.

And for those a little less fit, there is the Pumpkin Plod, a 2km or 5km walking route around Highams Park Lake.

Katie Tyler, events fundraising manager at Haven House, said “Our pumpkin fest is family-friendly Halloween fun for all ages and is an amazing way to support Haven House in our 15th birthday year.

“We are delighted that Toyota Hills of Woodford are our medal sponsor for the event and we are really grateful for their ongoing support.

“There will be a brilliant atmosphere throughout the day with live music, fun warm-ups, BBQ and lots of Halloween family fun.

“We are asking participants to aim to raise £50 as the registration fee only covers the cost of running the event so we do rely on sponsorship to help support our vital services.”

The run will start from Haven House’s grounds at High Road, Woodford Green, at 11am on Sunday, October 28.

Both walks begin at 2.30pm and participants will enjoy a scenic trail decorated with orange and black pumpkin bunting.

Entry fee for the Chasing Pumpkins 10km run is £15 and includes an official chip time, medal, pumpkin headwear and sweet treats.

Tickets for a child under 12 for the Pumpkin Plod is £7, £11 for an adult and £30 for a family of four. An activity card, medal, sweet treats and pumpkin are included.

Runners and walkers are encouraged to get into the festive spirit and be creative with their costumes.
