The Mini Holland scheme could be expanded with more road closures.

Waltham Forest Council has launched a consultation on making changes to its controversial cycle lanes.

This includes road closures and changes to the traffic direction in the Markhouse ward, Walthamstow.

Changes could see traffic calming measures brought in along Lansdowne Road, Chelmsford Road and Farmilo Road.

Boundary Road could see major changes with “corridor improvements” planned.

Rutland Road and Westmorland Road may be closed off to cars and a number of roads throughout the Markhouse area will see traffic direction changes.

The cycling scheme has proved controversial so far with a number of residents complaining about roads being closed off and claiming traffic levels on the roads have increased in some areas.

The plans have been praised by local cycling groups, however, and the council hopes the changes will make Walthamstow a “safer, healthier and more accessible place for residents, businesses and visitors.”

The consultation is open from Monday September 10 until Sunday September 30.
