A fine selection of vegetables were on show at the fifth annual Waltham Abbey Fun Horticultural Show on Friday (September 7).
Alongside competitive categories in cake and jams, entrants also won awards for the large and unusually shaped fruits of their labour.
Children vied for glory in tray gardens and fairy cake competitions as town mayor Jeanne Lea led proceedings.
The best in show award went to David Haskell from the Longfields Allotment site.
Jayne Parsons, an organiser and member of the Waltham Abbey Allotment Association, said: "It was fun and we had a lot of entries.
"The mayor was really good at including everybody.
"She was really joyful and got everyone up and smiling."
The allotment association presented the first honey harvest from its beehives before apiarist Josie Howard spoke about her first year keeping bees.
