Four people escaped serious injury when the car they were travelling in crashed into the front of a house.

The incident happened in Walthamstow’s Chingford Road after midnight and the road was closed until 6am while emergency services dealt with it.

A spokesman for the Met said: “Police were called at 00:26 on Wednesday, September 12, to reports of a car in collision with a house in Chingford Road E17.

“Officers attended along with the London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service.

“Four people were inside the vehicle, none were reported to be seriously injured.

“The house as well as a neighbouring property were evacuated while the incident was dealt with.”

Structural engineers also attended the scene.

Police confirmed that no one has been arrested.

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 12:28am this morning to Chingford Road, Walthamstow to reports of a road traffic collision. 
"We sent an ambulance crew to the scene. There were no injuries and our crews were stood down."
