Redbridge Council wants to plant new trees, repave streets, install cycle stands and add more street lights.

The authority is planning to make a series of changes to Ilford Town Centre and has launched a consultation.

The areas due for improvement include the pedestrianised area of High Road between the junctions with Clements Road to the east and west plus the northern footpath to the junction of Cranbrook Road.

The council began work on the central section of High Road, where it meets with Chadwick Road, last year and is now consulting residents on the next phase of changes it has planned.

So far, people have registered complaints about high and inconsistent kerbs in the town centre, overcrowded bus stops and a lack of clear cycle lanes to stop people cycling on the pavements.
