Organisers of a carnival in aid of a children’s hospice are hoping the fine weather will stretch out until this weekend.

Mallards Wood Daycare Nursery in Woodford Green and Treehouse Nursery School in Leytonstone came up with the idea to help children and young adults being treated for life-limiting conditions at Haven House Hospice.

Best-selling children’s author Annabel Karmel and the Mayors of Waltham Forest and Redbridge will be guests of honour at the family-friendly carnival held in the grounds of the hospice in High Road, Woodford Green.

The fun starts at 12pm on Saturday, September 22, and the parade will kick off at 3pm.

Youngsters are encouraged to arrive in fancy dress and, if dressed as either a king or a queen, will be in with a chance of winning a prize.

Entertainment will include a live band, a BBQ, face painting, a bouncy castle and a Pimm's and beer tent.

Lindy Hunt, head of community engagement at Haven House, said: “What better way to enjoy the last throes of summer than with our Family Carnival?

“This promises to be a fun-filled day and we are delighted Annabel Karmel will be attending along with the Mayors of Redbridge and Waltham Forest.

“All proceeds from the carnival will help support more life-limited children and families in the local area.

“We are very grateful to Mallards Wood Daycare Nursery and Treehouse Nursery School for organising this event.”
