A woman who filmed her ex-boyfriend dying before posting the footage on social media has been jailed for 14 years.

Fatima Khan, 21, of Jersey Road in Ilford, was sentenced at the Old Bailey where she was previously found guilty of orchestrating the killing of 18-year-old Khalid Safi.

Khalid was found stabbed after a fight in Victoria Road at around 6:30pm on December 1, 2016.

He was taken to a west London hospital by the London Ambulance Service where he died a short time later.

A post-mortem examination on December 2, 2016, at Uxbridge Mortuary gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the heart.

Fatima Khan

Khan had been in an on off relationship with Khalid for about two years, but there was a second man, Suspect One, identified in court as Raza Khan.

The two men had fought over Fatima in the past.

On December 1, 2016, Khalid appeared at Fatimah's work place unexpectedly and an argument ensued.

Fatimah posted parts of the argument on Snapchat, claiming Khalid assaulted her and threatened her with a gun. The pair made their way on foot to the plaza area of Victoria Road where they continued arguing.

Fatima alerted Raza Khan of the argument via a group Snapchat at which point he allegedly armed himself with a knife and took a taxi to North Acton where he knew he would find them both.

Upon arrival, Raza Khan spoke to Fatimah before a confrontation between the two men happened which led to Khalid being stabbed.

Raza Khan fled the scene and a discarded knife and jacket was later found nearby.

He went to a north London hospital with minor injuries, telling staff they were caused by losing his balance.

He was triaged but left before being treated. He did not return home and he discarded his mobile phone.

Fatima Khan's Snapchat post

CCTV footage showed Fatima Khan going into a café while the two men were fighting. She was on her phone and was overheard by staff asking someone to hurry up, saying there had been a problem.

She left the café and went over to Khalid who was on the floor dying. She took photos of him, and when challenged by witnesses she said, “it's for my sister”, before calmly walking away.

Fatima was arrested on December 7, 2016. She was released on bail and later charged on August 16, 2017, with conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.

On October 31, 2017, she was further charged with the murder of Khalid Safi.

A 22-year-old man who was arrested on March 29, 2017, on suspicion of assisting an offender was later released with no further action.

Wanted, Raza Khan

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cranwell, from the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “Fatima posted a series of antagonising posts which she knew full well could, at the very least, result in serious harm coming to Khalid.

“When Khalid lay dying after being stabbed, her first thought was to capture the moment for social media - a truly perverse and callous course of action. Khalid was only 18 years old when he was killed, and he had his whole life ahead of him.

"A petty argument over rival affections has escalated with a tragic outcome. I hope today's conviction gives Khalid's family some measure of comfort and closure.

“Raza Khan is wanted for Khalid's murder. Our efforts to bring him in for questioning continue.”
