Primary school pupils will team up with pensioners for a poetry workshop to celebrate International Day of Older Persons.

The Redbridge Rhymesters will welcome youngsters from Snaresbrook Primary School to The Allan Burgess Centre in Grove Park, Wanstead on Tuesday, October 2.

The school, which supports AgeUK Redbridge, hopes they children will learn from their elders and see how the money they raise is being used to help them.

Alexandra Wilde, chairman of the poetry group, said: “It will be wonderful to welcome children from Snaresbrook Primary School once again to join us on October 2.

“The intergenerational meeting of creative minds always results in some brilliant poems, and gives the children a chance to learn how people from different eras and places can be encouraged to share their knowledge through reminiscing about past experiences, and preserve it through the medium of poetry.”

A pamphlet of the poems written by participants in the workshop will be produced.
