Children with time on their hands can head down to Lee Valley Regional Park this October Half Term to take part in a host of activities.

On October 24 from 10am the Lee Valley VeloPark will open up to 12 to 16 year-olds and ride in the same velodrome made famous during the London 2012 Olympic Games.

During the two hour session costing £15 qualified coaches will teach skills and techniques required to ride a fixed wheel bike confidently as learner-Laura Trotts progress their way up the 42 degree bank.

From October 20 to November 4 visitors can enjoy a range of fun and frightening activities for £10.

Little ones can get creative in the farm’s very own Pumpkin Patch where they can carve and decorate an array of autumnal vegetables before joining the family for a walk along the eerie Trick or Treat trails.

Aimed at children between 6 - 12 years old, from October 23 to 26 athletics camps will offer aspiring athletes the chance to receive expert tuition in a range of skills across different athletics disciplines including hurdles, high jump, sprints and javelin for £90.

Run over a series of days, the camps are held at the elite Lee Valley Athletics Centre where British gold medalists such as Greg Rutherford and Jonnie Peacock have trained.

And on October 25 pre-schoolers will be able to delve into natural world with an afernoon of minibeast-hunting, pond dipping and nature crafts.

From 1pm to 2.30pm, costs £4.
