A mischievous puppy who has met countless celebrities is hoping to secure his next big meeting with his namesake - England captain Harry Kane.

The seven-month-old Jack Russell known as Harry Kane9 already has a bulging photo album of portraits with household names – thanks to his owner Nick McGrath of Walthamstow.

The pooch has joined the freelance entertainment, lifestyle and travel writer at interviews since being adopted earlier this year.

Although Harry Kane9 does not always behave himself, he never fails to win the approval of interviewees, thanks to his friendly nature and playfulness.

Last summer, after Leyton Orient put out a call for people with male dogs to bring them to the pitch to deter foxes, Harry Kane9 leapt at the chance.

Nick, 47, of St Stephen’s Avenue, said: “Harry Kane9 has been on the Leyton Orient pitch leaving his scent.

“He has come close to Harry Kane and they’ve trodden on the same turf but he has not met him yet.

“Hopefully that will change soon.

“When Harry Kane scored the goal against Tunisia in the World Cup we were delighted and felt the name was meant to be.

“He is extremely friendly and mischievous and has a lot of energy and he’s unbelievably sociable.”

Nick, his wife Kirsten Ellar, 47, along with their children Aoife, 13, and Art, 9, expanded their family when they adopted Harry Kane9 from Lea Valley Rescue Centre in Tottenham.

The centre is just 500 yards from White Hart Lane, the former home of Tottenham Hotspurs who Kane plays for.

Since moving to Walthamstow, the puppy has made a name for himself as having a penchant for disrespecting famous people's property.

During an interview with actress Felicity Kendal in a posh restaurant in Chelsea, Harry Kane9 decided to entertain himself by chewing through the star’s designer handbag.

Nick said: “She had a £2,000 Louis Vuitton handbag under the table and he managed to gnaw through the leather strap.

“He had been munching for about 20 minutes.

“She’s a very nice lady and she had been telling me how she has less value on material things these days. She just laughed.

“It was a huge relief because I’d have to do about 10 interviews to pay for that handbag.”

In another interview, while Nick was chatting with singer-songwriter Katie Melua, Harry Kane9 decided to entertain himself by eating part of the musician’s laptop cord.

And a visit to the home of Strictly Come Dancing Judge Bruno Tonioli for an interview also ended in a red-faced moment for Nick.

While the pair were busy chatting, Harry Kane9 decided to sneak upstairs and have a sniff around the dancer’s bedroom.

The dog returned downstairs carrying Bruno’s underpants in his mouth and began to dash around the house playfully, escaping his owner’s attempt to catch him.

Harry Kane9 recently featured in the nationwide Wooferendum campaign and also made an appearance at the anti-Brexit march to Parliament earlier this month, where he took a particular liking to Alistair Campbell’s dog Skye.

“He was flirting with her,” said Nick.

“They seemed to hit it off.

“If you can get over picking up poo, the benefits of having a dog are unbelievable. I’ve met so many people because of Harry Kane9.”
