A new building has been officially opened at Roding Valley High School in Loughton.
Epping Forest MP Dame Eleanor Laing cut the ribbon of the Brook Building, which has energy efficient heating and lighting, and houses the school library, Sixth Form study centre and five classrooms, four of which have moveable walls to provide larger space for special project work and visiting speakers.
Dame Eleanor said: "I am really impressed by the new Brook Building.
"It has taken a lot of work over very many years and I would to thank and congratulate everyone who has worked so hard and shown such determination to bring this brilliant project to fruition, in particular Paul Banks, all the governors and county councillors without whose vision and energy it could never have happened.
"It was a great pleasure to meet the students, particularly the Sixth Form students.
" I can see that they are benefitting from the terrific resources in the new building and the whole school has a sense of renewed energy."
