Children helped their teachers raise awareness about a national shortage of workers.

Co-op Childcare, which has branches at Watford Junction Station and Altham Gardens, South Oxhey, launched National Nursery Practitioner Day on October 17.

Each nursery was sent a box with chocolate cake, treats and notes from parents saying thank you.

The childcare provider also sent out ‘appreciation boards’ to its nurseries to recognise the efforts of workers.

Shukri Abdalla, nursery manager at Co-op Childcare in Bounds Green, Tottenham, said: “Working in childcare is such a rewarding career, but it doesn’t always get the recognition it deserves so it’s great to have a day dedicated just to us.

“National Nursery Practitioner Day made the whole team feel even more appreciated and motivated.

“Parents have been leaving some wonderful feedback on our appreciation wall already which makes our job feel even more special.”
