An inspector has been appointed to examine the council's 11,400 home Local Plan.

Following the decision of the Right Honourable Justice Sales on September 20 to refuse CK Properties the right to appeal its defeated court case, Epping Forest District Council submitted its 15 year house building plan.

Louise Phillips has been appointed to carry out the independent examination of the plan and determine whether it has legally sound and consistent with national policy, ahead of a hearing in January 2019.

Ms Phillips is a Cambridge masters graduate who examined the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead's Local Plan earlier this year.

In a 2,000 word document she questioned whether alternatives to building on Green Belt had been considered, and asked the council to provide additional evidence to ‘justify’ future development on flood sites.
