A man with a serious head wound fled from the scene of a head on crash.
At around 8am on Tuesday, November 6 a white Volkswagen Up and a blue Ford KA smashed into one another head-on on a bend in Greensted Road, Ongar.
A man inside the KA ran from the wreckage with a serious cut to his head.
The driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital with chest injuries.
He has since been discharged.
Police arrested a 28-year-old man from Ongar at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, taking a motor vehicle without consent and driving under the influence.
A 22-year-old man from Ongar was later arrested in hospital at around 4.50pm on suspicion of causing injury by careless driving, taking a motor vehicle without consent and driving under the influence.
They have both been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.
