To mark Islamophobia Awareness Month a walking tour will be held in Walthamstow to explore the Islamic history of the town.
The tour is part of Waltham Forest Stand Up To Racism’s calendar of events to mark the annual campaign that runs throughout November.
AdulMaalik Tailor who is the UK’s first qualified Muslim tour guide will lead the event from 1.30pm to 4pm on Saturday, November 24.
Participants will meet outside Kelmscott School in Markhouse Road, Walthamstow.
Muslims began to arrive in Waltham Forest the 1950s and by the late 1960s their numbers had reached 4,000.
Today, around a quarter of the borough’s residents are Muslims, compared to around five per cent nationally.
Tickets are £12 and £8 for concessions. Children under 12 are free. To book call Esther on 07773 769379.
