In the wake of a high profile digger theft Essex Police is holding a Rural Crime Advice Day.
Nearly one third of crimes committed in the county are classed as rural.
While some forms of rural crime - such as the theft of the digger which was crashed into Theydon Bois Tesco two weeks ago - are tied to the countryside, the category simply refers to any crime committed in the sparsely populated geographical areas outside of towns.
On the advice day products and services protected farms, businesses and communities in the countryside will be showcased, alongside advice on how to protect farmyard machinery from criminals.
The day takes place between 10.00am and 3pm on November 14 at Slamseys Farm, Blackley Lane, Great Notley.
