Secondary school students channelled their inner Mary Berry and got into the Great British Bake Off spirit to raise more than £1,200 for Children in Need.

Eden Girls’ School in Blackhorse Lane, Walthamstow, also held a non-uniform day with a spots and Pudsey Bear theme in aid of the annual BBC appeal.

As well as baking yummy bites and tasty treats for the event, the youngsters were responsible for planning and delivering the school’s fundraising campaign which involved motivating all year groups to get on board.

Shahina Ahmed, executive principal, said: “Raising more than £1,200 for Children in Need is a great achievement which will contribute to the charity’s outstanding work with the most vulnerable children.

“Our pupils know that there are young people who are not as blessed as they are, so it was a fantastic chance for them to help others less fortunate.

“I am extremely proud of them all.”

A record-breaking £50.6 million was donated to Children in Need during the televised fundraiser on Friday, November 16.
