Air Cadets visited care home residents for a day of remembrance.

To mark the centenary of WWI armistice Air Cadets 414 Epping & North Weald helped distribute poppies to people living at Barchester Ashlar House behind St Margaret's Hopsital in Epping.

Cadets Osborne, Carter and Kaci joined flt sgt Kat Howieson and civilian instructor James Whitbread at the home, where young and old swapped stories.

Mr Whitbread said: "Personally it made me feel privileged to see the residents and the cadets getting along and talking."

Barchester Ashlar House provides 24 nursing care for patients with dementia.

Rita Green, lifestyle activities coordinator at the home, said: "I would very much like to thank the 414 Squadron for making time after the long day being in the cold selling their own poppies in Epping High Street for giving up their time in preparation for the Sunday march.

"This event wouldn't have been as meaningful and fulfilling without their support."
