A WOMAN has been arrested for assisting an offender after a man was left with a gunshot wound following an incident in Laindon.
Two men have already been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection to the incident in Burdock Drive, Laindon, on Thursday which left one man seriously injured.
A 51-year-old woman from Dagenham has now been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and remains in police custody.
Police have already made some arrests following the incident.
A 20-year-old man from Basildon was arrested on Sunday, November 18, on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of firearms offences.
He was released on conditional bail until December 14 while police enquiries continue.
A 27-year-old man from Basildon who was arrested in connection with possession of firearms offences, attempted murder and possession of class A drugs with intent to supply has been released on conditional police bail until December 14.
A 54-year-old man from Basildon was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of assisting an offender.
He was released on conditional bail until December 14 while the investigation continues.
Officers were initially called with reports a Renault and a BMW had crashed just after 3.30pm on November 15 and the driver of a BMW was seen with a gun which was reported to have then been fired.
The man was reported to have left the scene in a Mercedes which has now been recovered.
Police now believe the crash and the shooting are not connected.
The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition but with serious injuries.
