Police have released shocking CCTV footage of a woman being punched, slapped and mugged by a teenager at a cashpoint in broad daylight.
The victim was attacked as she withdrew cash at an ATM near a post office in Leytonstone Road, Newham, at around 3.10pm on Wednesday, November 28.
The attacker, who is black and had her hair in dreadlocks, can be seen waiting behind the woman, who is in her early 40s and was wearing a pink headscarf.
The girl, who is believed to be in her late teens, lunges towards her and punches her in the head and drags her away from the ATM.
As the suspect makes her way back to the cashpoint, where she stole the woman’s money, the victim is seen tugging at her coat.
At least three people are seen passing by staring at the women, but none intervenes.
The victim did not require medical treatment.
Detective Inspector Steve Bluemore of Newham CID, said: "This was a shocking attack in broad daylight and we know a number of people were passing at the time.
“I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident or who recognises the suspect to contact police immediately."
