LLANDUDNO promenade was awash with festive colour as hundreds of people dressed as Father Christmas for a seasonal fun run.

More than 40 runners took part to raise funds for St David's Hospice, a charity providing specialist palliative care to patients with advanced illnesses, their family and carers.

More than £100 was raised through the 5k Santa Dash. The fundraiser followed a route down the Llandudno pier, then along the promenade to the paddling pool before racers returned back to the pier where they were greeted with a well-earned medal as they crossed the finish line.

James Wilde, Conwy area fundraiser for St David's Hospice, said: "Thank you so much to our supporters for braving the rain to get into the festive spirit at the Santa Dash.

"We had participants of all ages join in the event who had lots of fun whilst raising funds and awareness for St David’s Hospice.

"The funds will go a long way towards supporting the care we offer here at St David’s.

"I’d also like to thank Bespoke Fitness and Events for organising the event and making it a big success.”

Cllr David and Amanda Hawkins, mayor and mayoress of Llandudno, was asked to start the 'dash' alongside Carys Lambe who is Miss Alice.

Mrs Hawkins said: "St David's Hospice is such a worthy cause comforting those in need, providing support and care from dedicated volunteers and staff to their families.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all at St David's Hospice over the Christmas period."

More sponsorship money is still be collected.
