A hospice is challenging its supporters to match the steps of its hardworking nurses.
Each month nurses working at Haven House Children's Hospice cover more than 100 miles or 200,000 steps while delivering care to children with life limiting illnesses.
In order to raise funds crucial to keep its services going, the Woodford Green institution is urging people to match the hefty foot-load this January and collect sponsorship.
Katie Tyler, events fundraising manager, said: “This challenge has been inspired by the incredible care team and the distances they cover each month to deliver vital services in the local community.
"It is really important to be able to offer our services beyond the hospice building and in the place of choice that our children and young people want. For many this may be in the comfort of their own homes.
“Participants can achieve the 100 mile distance at their own pace throughout the month and they can complete it however they like be it be it running, jogging, walking, cycling or even dancing."
While the 100 mile target may sound hefty, it works out as an achievable 6,500 steps per day.
Haven House Children’s Hospice provides a range of services to families across North and North East London, West Essex and East Hertfordshire.
These include services such as respite, play, music therapy and end-of-life care at home.
