A charity is asking for your unwanted Christmas jumpers and duplicate gifts.

Barnardo's has issued an appeal for Redbridge residents to drop of their unwanted Christmas presents to their local Barnardo's stores, rather than hoard them.

Figures show that more than 60 million unwanted presents are gifted each year costing £380 million.

The charity has launched a gift amnesty for these gifts at its shops in Chingford, Loughton, Chigwell in Hainault, Barkingside in Ilford and South Woodford.

Barnardo's chief executive Javed Khan said: "It can be difficult to buy the perfect present for a family member or friend. So, if you’ve unwrapped something that doesn’t quite fit or just isn’t right for you, do something special and donate the gift to your nearest Barnardo’s shop.

"This will help raise vital funds so we can continue to support hundreds of thousands of the most vulnerable children across the UK.”
