Detectives investigating the murder of a 14-year-old have recovered a car believed to be involved in the attack in which he died.

14-year-old Jaden Moodie was declared dead by paramedics at 7.09pm in Bickley Road on Tuesday.

He had been struck off a moped he was riding by a car and then fatally stabbed in what police are treating as a targeted attack.

The car, a black Mercedes B Class, was recovered last night in the Carlisle Road area of Leyton and has now been removed for further forensic examination.

No arrests have been made at this stage of the investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Soole, from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, who leads the investigation, said: "We are treating the recovery of the car as a significant development in our enquiries, which are still very much in their early stages.

"Jaden's family are being fully supported and kept updated by our team.

"This is a truly heartbreaking time for them and we are doing everything we can to find out who was responsible for Jaden's death.

"I would urge anyone who has information about those responsible but who has not yet made contact with police to do so straight away."

Additional officers are in the area and members of the public are encouraged to talk to them about concerns they have, or share information they think could help our enquiries.

Neighbourhood patrols have also been stepped up in the area.
