Just shy of 15 acres of college land will be sold to developers.

Epping Forest College has instructed Knight Frank to sell 14.8 acres of college land in Loughton.

The property company is marketing the site on an unconditional basis and expects offers in excess of £20m.

The development is spread over two sites on Borders Lane.

The first site is made up of three acres, currently comprising former college buildings that were vacated in 2011.

The second site is11.8 acres previously used as the college playing field.

James Barton, residential development partner at Knight Frank, said: “This is undoubtedly one of the best development sites to come to the market this quarter.

“It offers a unique opportunity to develop two sites in close proximity to an underground station and within walking distance of the established and fashionable address of Loughton.”

The two sites were allocated in Epping Forest Council’s Local Plan as suitable for residential development in 2017 and could allow for around 630 homes.

In 2016 the council voted to remove covenants from the land which restricted its use for education or healthcare use, hoping to open the site up for residential development.
