Young athletes can start dusting off their running shoes as the borough calls for representatives.

Waltham Forest is asking for representatives in this year's Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon on Sunday April 28.

Boys and girls under 13, under 15 and under 17 are permitted to be considered for the Waltham Forest team if they have completed a park run and live or attend school in the borough.

A park run is a 5km run against the clock.

Waltham Forest cabinet member for sports and voluntary sector partnerships Cllr Naheed Asghar said: "Running is great physical exercise – but it’s also a social activity. The Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon is a great opportunity for young athletes and runners in Waltham Forest to meet new friends and get healthier as they represent Waltham Forest. I encourage anyone who’s interested to lace up those running shoes and get involved!”

The closing date for entries is April 1.
